Phono Solar, the world's leading supplier of energy system solutions, was recently invited to visit the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and renewable energy-related companies in Sri Lanka.

The Commerce and the Economic Development Minister and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry cordially received the Phono Solar delegation. During talks, the Commerceand the Economic Development Minister outlined the status quo and future trends regarding the development of the Sri Lanka solar energy market. He said that with the sustained growth in demand for electricity, Sri Lanka urgently needed to explore new sources of electricity. In Sri Lanka, solar energy is the largest renewable energy in terms of the amount and could provide electricity for rural populations. Encouraged by current Net Metering policies, both residential and commercial projects are gradually trying to invest in on-grid solar energy systems.

Later, in an exchange meeting organized by the Photovoltaic Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Richard Geng, Vice-General Manager of Phono Solar, gave a detailed introduction of Phono Solar, outlining the corporate profile and product outline as well as outlining the marketing strategy for the South Asia market (which includes Sri Lanka). Guests expressed their willingness to establish a long-term and stable cooperative relationship with Phono Solar and to develop together the energy market of Sri Lanka in the future.

As early as 2011,the Power and Energy Minister ever publicly said that the Sri Lanka government had introduced a renewable energy production program which would strive to increase the proportion of renewable energy generation capacity from 7% to 20% by 2020. With huge potential for wind power, solar energy and biomass power generation, Sri Lanka urgently needs technologies. Therefore, achieving international transfer of renewable energy technologies is crucial for Sri Lanka. However, Sri Lanka is not the outdated dumping market for renewable energy technologies. Sri Lanka will vigorously promote technological innovation to form its own sustainable and renewable energy production systems.

With this in mind, Geng stated that Phono Solar always recommend the most appropriate products to their customers, for example the anti-salt mist corrosion modules for coastal areas and the dual-glass modules which is anti-PID, etc. Phono Solar also offer continuous training for local partners when they first enter into a new country market and they strive to share the company's latest products and technologies with local customers. The solar energy industry in Sri Lanka is rapidly developing and it is anessential emerging market in South Asia. Currently in Sri Lanka, around 20% production cost of manufacturing companyis from electricity while the return on investment for installing a solar energy system is 6-9 years, meaning that factory owners are less willing toinvest in solar projects, need government further incentive policies. Also, in order to strengthen renewable energy development, Sri Lanka need further funds to improve energy-saving awareness amongst its citizens, to develop specific policies to encourage the development of renewable energy industries.
