Besides enhancing the fire protection requirements of modules, the latest UL1703 standard also puts forward new requirements on for the fire rating of the support system— and even the entire rooftop PV system. Since January 01, 2016, all PV modules sold in the United States must conform to the fire prevention test standard under the latest UL1703 standard, and California has decided to implement this provision a year in advance, stipulating that the fire rating of all PV systems must be Class A. A module with Type 1 certification is necessary to guarantee that the entire system satisfies Class A requirements.
